October 4th - October 19, 2008: SECRETS at PROOF Studio Gallery, Toronto
Secrets define those sides of our personalities that are the most personal, often the most intimate. These secrets can also be those sensitive and conflicted aspects of our lives that we are not prepared to reveal in daylight. In spite of the personal nature of our secrets, or perhaps because of it, artists are inexplicably driven to reference the hidden power and influence of secrets in our lives.
Print artists can draw upon a wide range of traditional print techniques for their expressions of secrets. The secret reveals itself only to those who can decode it. The visual sharing of a secret with viewers may bring relief, support or delight to the artist.
This project calls upon printmakers to produce original prints that express those secrets that internally motivate and inform their art. The juried works will be chosen on the individual strength of the images produced. Using printmaking, the collective artists allude to their secrets while retaining their secrecy.

May 1-31, 2008: CONTACT at LATITUDE 44
THE WORLD’S LARGEST PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL RETURNS FOR ITS 12TH YEAR IN TORONTO 500 Canadian and International Artists Exhibit at over 200 Venues Across the GTA.
From May 1 - 31st, CONTACT will transform Toronto into a city-wide art gallery. From street corners to expressways, and cafes to museums, the city becomes the backdrop for over 500 professional, established and emerging photographers from Canada and around the world.
JUNCTION - LATITUDE 44 GALLERY presents "CULTURES OBSCURED" by BRIAN ANDERSON, FABIENNE GOOD, MARILYN LIGHTSTONE and MATTHEW MARIGOLD. The Constructed Image: Brian Anderson’s Prophet Stones represents an ongoing exploration of how nature is part of the planet that sustains humankind. Fabienne Good’s series of photographs capture a non-posed, natural essence of a party environment, which continues her ongoing investigation of the integration of trends, fads, cultures, memories and ideas not generally found side by side. Marilyn Lightstone’s images observe a culture steeped in rich history and ancient religion. Matthew Marigold’s images, influenced by early 20th century to present-day Surrealism, deal with narcissism, duality of the self and underlying roles in our culture.
Show runs from May 1st to May 31st Tue – Fri 10am – 7pm, Sat 10am – 5pm, 416.769.2900
OPENING: May 3rd, 6-10pm.

May 1-31, 2008: PHOTO INSTALLATION AT ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS
Roadside Attractions 911 Davenport Road, Toronto,
In this installation by Fabienne Good a modular cube evolves out of the placement of twenty-seven smaller cubes: one small cube added each day for twenty-seven days. Five photographic images are divided into segments and faced onto the visible sides of the small cubes.
The images when completed formulate an integration of cultures, lifestyles, class and societal structure. Within the twenty-seven day timeframe of the installation, a dichotomy is created between the static nature of still photography and the perceived linear format of time. When structured this way the moment-in-time aspect of photographic images artificially evolves and remains fluid until the final segment is in place. The modularity and proportional scaling evoke a Utopian social harmony just beyond our reach.

April 2008: PHOTOGRAPHY AT CINNAMON GIRLS
Cinnamon Girls Restaurant 1170 Queen Street West, Toronto Mon-Fri: 9:00am to 5:30pm and Saturday 10am to 5pm.
Through untraditional means of photography, Fabienne explores the ideas of media influencing our everyday lives. The constant mixing of items, colours, cultures, fads, and trends which are generally not found side by side, are portrayed in her unique colour photographs.
Contrary to popular belief, her photographs from the “media series” are all done in the darkroom. Instead of using negatives in the enlarger, she uses colour-copied acetates instead.
The layering of these semi-transparent films creates an image made up of many different levels, giving the viewer a loaded image to study. This practice emphasizes our every day lives, all the mishmash of images and information we see in adverts on screens and billboards, and what we choose to remember and what gets washed away.
Show runs from April 6th to May 4th

NOV.20-24, 2007: WHODUNIT?
A Toronto tradition, Whodunit? has been called “one of the city’s most ingenious visual art fundraisers” by Globe and Mail art critic Sarah Milroy. Whodunit? offers hundreds of original works donated by Canadian artists, creative celebrities, OCAD faculty, alumni and students. Every piece measures 5½” x 7½” and each piece is $75. The mystery—who created the art—is solved only after the piece is bought and turned over to reveal the artist’s name on the back. You never know, you may find yourself owning a work by Will Alsop, Barbara Astman or Margaret Atwood. Fabienne Good's piece titled "at the fair" was among the mystery works.
